Celebrating Clydesdale's Past,

Our Story
Clydesdale’s Heritage SCIO is a volunteer-led charity caring for collections, delivering activities, and working with community partnersFormed in 2026 as the successor to the Lanark & District Archaeological Society (est. 1974), Clydesdale’s Heritage is dedicated to protecting and sharing the rich history of the Clydesdale district.
We combine decades of archaeological expertise with an active community mission: uncovering our region’s history and making it accessible to everyone.
Our remarkable collection of photographs, postcards, documents and other archives covers every parish in the old Upper Ward of Lanarkshire. We are digitising this collection and making it available online, opening a window onto the people, places and events that shaped Clydesdale.
Join one of our talks or meetings, visit fascinating historic sites on an excursion, take part in a local project, or simply meet others who share an interest in the area’s past.
We also work with communities, schools and partner organisations to strengthen local identity and help more people connect with their heritage.
