Volunteering - join the team

Everything that we do depends on the hard work of volunteers, and we warmly welcome every new recruit to our team. Working as part of Clydesdale’s Heritage provides an opportunity to make a difference, develop skills, broaden experiences, enjoy good company, and delve into the fascinating heritage of our area. Your interests, experience and enthusiasm can be applied and combined in many ways, however there are a number of standard roles that are central to our current programme of work:

Cataloguing

Scanning, digitisation, and documentation of our substantial collection of historical images and archives.

Recording

Creating records of built heritage and historic landscapes through photography, field-walking, and drone surveys.

Research

Revealing histories of people and places from our archives and other resources; and capturing oral histories.

Content Creation

Writing articles. compiling images, and creating videos to be shared though our social media.

Volunteers also contribute to all other areas of our activities, and occasional vacancies arise for individuals with specific skills and experiences to serve as Board members.

We'd be delighted to discuss the roles and tasks that might best engage your interests and talents. Most activity is based at our cosy premises in Broomgate, Lanark, although certain tasks can be undertaken remotely from home. For standard roles, we offer all the necessary training and support to equip you to contribute your best, and in return, we ask for a regular commitment of your time, with flexible scheduling options.
